To MP or not To MP...that is the question.

so in this quest to change and add depth to my sound...i've been flirting with the idea of an MPC...my nigga gabe said don't...that it was a waste of money...which i understand why he would say that...but...all the greats used some version of an MP...alot of producers still do...and i think it would be dope to get one and learn it...i found a brand new MPC 2000 for 500 bucks...i really wouldn't mind having it either...but with the MP i would have to sequence and master in different programs...which makes me think...what if i made my beats in FL then mastered them in Pro Tools? Or even Cubase...but yet and still i don't know quite yet...any suggestions are greatly needed...
